New Swimmer Pretest Swift Creek YMCA Start: 4:30 PM End: 5:30 PM

There will be a swim team pretest at the Swift Creek YMCA on Sunday, May 4th from 4:30-5:30pm. This is required for all 8 and under swimmers who are new to the team. The only exemption is for swimmers who are transferring from another team with recorded times for at least one stroke.

If you are not a member of the Swift Creek YMCA, visit the YMCA website and register as a non-member prior to the pre-test.

• Scroll to bottom and select Non Member (Join Fee is Free)

Please note: When completing this, the first person always has to be to an adult on the non member account. Then add children.

Swim Test Requirements

For swimmers 8 or younger who are new to the team, swimmers will be required to be assessed for comfort in the water and the ability to perform certain skills independently:

• front float with assistance
• back float with assistance
• submerge head independently
• ability to kick with a kickboard independently for a short distance
• swim independently for a short distance, about 10 feet

This test is to assure the swimmer will be able to participate in practices. Swimmers that are unable to complete the skills will be unable to participate in the upcoming season. Information for the YMCA swim lesson program will be available.

For swimmers 9 or older: Swimmers should be able to swim a minimum of 2 lengths of the pool without stopping using any stroke. If a parent is uncertain if their child can complete this skill or is uncertain of their child's abilities, please plan to attend the pretest time.
